It is planned to reach the underground salt beds through horizontal/vertical drillings to be made from the kaverna Entrance-Exit areas. The fresh water, received from the Seyhan River and funneled to the inlet and outlet of the Cavern by means of the pumps and through fresh water pipelines at the Ballıca Melting Station of the Tarsus – Yenice Underground Natural Gas Storage Project, (which is planned to be realised concurrently, belonging to Toren Natural Gas Storage and Mining Inc.), will be directed to underground, thereby melting the salt beds underneath. The saline water to be released will be discharged into the Mediterranean Sea by means of the pumps and through the brine pipelines at the Ballıca Melting Station. By means of the compressor at the Kocaköy Station and through natural gas pipelines to be directed at the formed kaverna’s, the capability to store gas and to reuse the said stored gas will be ensured.
